How to Use These Blends Worksheets
Start with the s blends worksheet for initial practice. Next, move to the r blends worksheets and the l blends worksheet before trying the three-letter blends. On every consonant blend worksheet, Part A asks the child to read 12 words and circle the start blend. In Part B, the student sorts 12 words into 4 columns based on the blend.
Every sheet prints on one page as a student copy without answers. Page two of the PDF provides a teacher copy with the answer key.
What Is a Consonant Blend
A consonant blend is two or three consonants next to each other where you still hear each sound. Examples include sn in snake, tr in train, and fl in flag.
This is different from digraphs such as sh or ch, which make one new sound instead of keeping separate sounds.
